Available Now: The Hague Principles in Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish
The Hague Conference on Private International Law is pleased to announce that the Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish translations of the 12 articles of the Principles on Choice of Law in International Commercial Contracts ("the Hague Principles") are now available on the Hague Principles section of the Hague Conference website. These translations have been kindly provided by the translation services of the United Nations in preparation for the proposed endorsement of the Hague Principles by UNCITRAL in the upcoming Forty-eighth session (Vienna, 29 June-16 July 2015). The Permanent Bureau wishes to thank UNCITRAL for its much appreciated assistance in raising awareness about the Hague Principles among the international trade law community.
The Hague Principles aim at affirming the principle of party autonomy and strengthening legal certainty and predictability in international commercial transactions. They were formally approved by the Members of the Hague Conference on Private International Law on 19 March 2015 and have already been implemented in Paraguay. The Hague Conference hopes that the availability of the Hague Principles in all UN official languages will provide an additional impetus to the use of this new legal instrument around the world.
