Ghana accedes to the 1993 Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption
On 21 September 2016, the Permanent Bureau was informed that on 16 September 2016, Ghana had deposited its instrument of accession to the Hague Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption and thus became the 98th Contracting State to this Convention. The Convention will enter into force for Ghana on 1 January 2017.
It is the first Hague Convention that Ghana has joined. This means that Ghana has become the 149th State to be connected to the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
