1993 Intercountry Adoption Convention enters into force for Guyana

On 1 June 2019, the HCCH Convention of 29 May 1993 on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (hereinafter the “Adoption Convention”) entered into force for Guyana, following the deposit of its instrument of accession on 5 February 2019. The Adoption Convention currently has 101 Contracting Parties.

In addition to the Adoption Convention, Guyana is a Contracting Party to 4 other HCCH Conventions (Apostille, Child Abduction, Child Protection and Child Support). Guyana is not yet a Member of the HCCH.
