The Protection of Adults Convention – 20th Anniversary
Today, the Convention on the International Protection of Adults celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
Given the growing practical importance of the subject-matter, and further to a successful Conference to discuss "Cross-border Protection of Vulnerable Adults", organised jointly by the HCCH and the European Commission in December 2018, the Permanent Bureau hopes that more States will become Parties to the 2000 Adults Convention in the near future (see the status table of the Convention for details on current Contracting Parties).
In March 2020, the Council on General Affairs and Policy (CGAP) will decide whether to hold a first meeting of the Special Commission to review the practical operation of the Convention in 2022.
