Seminar, “The Hague Choice of Court Convention and the Current Judgments Project”, at the 20th Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law (general congress)

On 24 July 2018, the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) organised a luncheon seminar entitled, “The Hague Choice of Court Convention and the Current Judgments Project”, for the participants in the 20th Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law, which took place in Fukuoka, Japan.
The seminar attracted more than 150 participants, including academics and judges. Mr Frank Poon, representative of ROAP, gave a general introduction to the HCCH and its work, as well as a historical note on the evolution of the Judgments Project; Ms Yuko Nishitani, professor at Kyoto University, addressed the Choice of Court Convention and its relevance for Japan; and Ms Ning Zhao, Senior Legal Officer at the HCCH, talked about the developments of the Hague Judgments Project, including the characteristics and operation of the current 2018 draft Convention and the future steps of the Project.
