Third Meeting of the Working Group established to complete the Country Profile and work on the draft Cooperation Request Recommended Model Form for the 1996 Child Protection Convention
In March 2024, the Council on General Affairs and Policy (CGAP) approved the establishment of a Working Group (WG) to first complete the Country Profile for the 1996 Child Protection Convention and then to progress work on the draft Cooperation Request Recommended Model Form under the 1996 Child Protection Convention (see Conclusion and Decisions Nos 23-24 of CGAP 2024).
The third meeting of the WG was held online on 26 June 2024, hosted by the Permanent Bureau (PB) in The Hague. The meeting was attended by 17 delegates representing 12 HCCH Members, as well as by members of the PB. During the meeting, participants completed their discussion of the draft Country Profile for the 1996 Child Protection Convention, taking into account comments provided by Members and Contracting Parties ahead of the Eighth Meeting of the Special Commission on the 1980 Child Abduction and 1996 Child Protection Conventions in October 2023, as well as additional comments made by members of the WG.
The draft Country Profile will now be circulated to HCCH Members for comments, and the WG plans to finalise its work on the draft Country Profile during the early part of the fourth quarter of 2024. The final draft Country Profile will then be circulated to HCCH Members for approval through a written procedure before the end of 2024.
More information on the 1996 Child Protection Convention is available on the HCCH website.
